Crews spent the night battling a huge house fire in Auckland's Mount Roskill.

Emergency services were called to the suburb at around 9.40pm after receiving "multiple calls".

Footage sent to 1News shows the property engulfed in flames, sending smoke billowing into the night sky.

According to locals on social media, Parau Street was closed off by a "heavy" police and fire crew presence.

Fire crews from Mount Roskill, Onehunga, Balmoral, Avondale, Auckland City, Ellerslie, and Glen Eden were all called to the scene.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said all people were accounted for.

NZ Herald reported that the building had collapsed.

A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said one crew was still at the scene this morning, dampening the flames.

A fire investigator will be at the scene after daybreak.
