A 24-year-old man has been charged after allegedly firing a gun during a car park dispute in Whangārei over the weekend.
An investigation led by Northland CIB has been underway since the incident occurred at a Vine Street car park just before 2am on Sunday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Aaron Crawford said inquiries led officers to a south Auckland address last night, where a person of interest was found in Papakura just before 7pm.
"Our colleagues in Counties Manukau, including the Armed Offenders Squad, approached a President Avenue property and took the man into custody without incident," he said.

A 24-year-old Kaipara man has been charged with discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He was due to appear in the Manukau District Court today.
Crawford said officers were still making into inquiries into why the incident took place, but believed it to be an "isolated incident following a dispute".
"We will not tolerate reckless violence such as this in our community, and it’s pleasing that we’ve been able to make an arrest in this case," he added.
Police were still seeking witnesses to Sunday morning's incident, and urged anyone with information to report this to 105.
"We are aware there a number of people on Vine Street at the time the firearm was discharged, and we would still like to speak with them as part of this investigation," Crawford said.
