Prime Minister Christopher Luxon calls 'urgent' caucus meeting on his leadership
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has called an "urgent" meeting of his MPs for 9.30am tomorrow amid "speculation about my leadership".
"It is clear from various media reports and conversations there is increased speculation about my leadership," he said in a post to X this afternoon.
"It is my firm belief that division and disunity are a major distraction only 90 days out from the election.
Philip Polkinghorne deleted sex worker photos when he became a suspect in wife's death
Philip Polkinghorne says he began to delete photos and data on his phone from sex worker Madison Ashton when he realised he was the "prime suspect" in his wife's death.
He told a coroner he felt "betrayed" by the police who had been interviewing him for several hours before a defence lawyer friend called him to tell he was likely a suspect.
Polkinghorne was found not guilty two years ago of the 2021 murder of Pauline Hanna and was giving evidence today at an inquest into her death.
Two power companies dominate Powerswitch-initiated changes
Kiwis searching for savings on their power bills are increasingly switching to two electricity retailers, according to the latest data from Powerswitch.
Powerswitch is a free, independent online power price comparison website run by consumer advocacy organisation Consumer NZ.
The data from March to July 2026 showed of the Kiwis who initiated a switch on the service, Electric Kiwi and Genesis have dramatically increased their share of consumer interest. It also showed New Zealanders were becoming far more focused on a small number of retailers when looking for better deals.
