Seven injured after bus and car crash in Auckland's Ponsonby

Seven people have been injured, including two being taken to hospital, after a crash between a car and bus in the central Auckland suburb of Ponsonby this afternoon.

Police were called to Ponsonby Rd near the intersection of Brown St just after 2pm on Monday.

Hato Hone St John said it responded with three ambulances and one operations manager.

"Our ambulance staff treated and assessed seven patients and transported two of them to Auckland City Hospital," a spokesperson said.

"One patient was in a serious condition, the other was in a moderate condition."

Hato Hone St John said another person in a moderate condition and four others in minor conditions did not require transport to hospital.

Images from the scene showed a blue vehicle with significant damage to its left hand side, including a badly crumpled driver's side door.

An Auckland Transport No.20 bus, running between St Lukes and Wynyard Quarter, was also pictured at the scene.

"Early reports say the car pulled out in front of the bus," an Auckland Transport spokesperson said.

AT said it appeared the bus driver had been injured in the crash.

Police advised motorists to avoid the area and expect delays.
