A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder as part of an ongoing homicide investigation launched in Auckland's Blockhouse Bay last month.
21-year-old Star Sami was critically wounded in a "violent confrontation" on Holbrook St, near the Shoreham St intersection, on August 22.
He later died from his injuries in hospital, and Operation Falconer was launched.
Auckland City CIB Acting Detective Inspector Craig Bolton said simultaneous search warrants were conducted in Avondale and Massey this morning, and a man was arrested in Massey.
“A 23-year-old man was brought back to the Mount Roskill Police Station for interview, and he has since been charged with murder," he said.
The man was expected to appear in the Auckland District Court this afternoon.
"While we are not seeking anyone else in relation to Mr Sami’s death, this is still an ongoing investigation and we are still speaking with a large number of witnesses to the violent altercation that occurred that Saturday afternoon," Bolton said.
Police acknowledged those who had provided information to date.
"The Operation Falconer team has been working hard on progressing the homicide investigation over the past month, and it’s a great outcome to have got to the point in laying a murder charge."
