Watch: King Charles, Queen Camilla arrive at Comm Games in Tardis

King Charles and Queen Camilla have arrived at the Commonwealth Games in style – being welcomed by cheering crowds after stepping from Doctor Who’s Tardis.

The opening ceremony is being held at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro stadium, and is celebrating the spirit of the city.

The royal couple emerged from the Tardis shortly after Scottish Olympic and Commonwealth cycling great Sir Chris Hoy.

The Tardis had earlier been on a journey around Scotland, as shown on the giant screens in the stadium, including a trip to Balmoral Castle to pick up the pair.

Scottish actor Greg Hugh was also in the Tardis police box.

David Liti and Moira de Villiers lead th NZ Commonwealth Games team

The opening ceremony also featured Loch Ness, Edinburgh Castle, Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Highlands.

The New Zealand team was led into the stadium by flagbearer David Liti (weightlifting) and baton holder Moira de Villiers (judo).
