Eliza McCartney wins gold in women's pole vault, Ayris takes bronze

Kiwi pole vaulter Eliza McCartney has won gold at the Commonwealth Games, while Imogen Ayris took the bronze.

McCartney's gold was confirmed after Australia's Nina Kennedy failed her third attempt at 4.70 metres.

Kennedy needed two attempts to clear the previous height of 4.65m, while McCartney required just one.

Unable to clear the 4.70m on her second attempt, Ayris secured the bronze for New Zealand.
