Police are investigating after a person was shot — and seriously injured — in Port Waikato last night.
Counties Manukau CIB Detective Inspector Karen Bright said officers were called to an address on Centreway Rd, Port Waikato after receiving a report of a person injured around 8.30pm.
"Upon arrival police located the victim, who had an injury consistent with a gunshot wound," she said.

Bright said the victim was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition, where they remain.
"All parties involved are believed to be known to each other and there it is not believed there is a risk to the public," she added.
St John said it sent one rapid response vehicle, one road manager, one transporting ambulance and one helicopter to the scene.
"We transported one patient in moderate condition by road to Middlemore Hospital," a St John spokesperson said.
"We were clear of the scene by 10pm."
Bright said inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances around what occurred.
