One lucky Lotto player has woken up $1 million richer following last night's draw, where Powerball was not struck and rolled over to a hefty $35 million jackpot — the largest prize up for grabs this year.

The winning First Division ticket was sold on MyLotto to a player from Auckland.

Powerball was not struck and will be $35 million on Wednesday's draw. StrikeFour was also not won, and will be $400,000 on Wednesday.

Seventeen players also claimed $27,913 each with Lotto Second Division, with three of those players also winning Powerball Second Division, taking home a grand total of $39,190.

The winning Second Division tickets were sold at stores in Riverhead, Auckland, Paeroa, Waihi Beach, Hāwera, Hawke’s Bay, Christchurch, Westport and the West Coast, with several tickets also purchased on MyLotto.

Lotto encouraged anyone who had purchased a ticket at any of the winning stores to check their numbers as soon as possible.

Wednesday's $35 million Powerball jackpot is the largest prize up for grabs so far this year.

The previous largest this year was a $28.6 million prize won by an Ashburton family, who had been playing the same numbers for years on a $7.50 ticket.
