Steve Price's son Riley signs with Warriors on two-year deal

Riley Price is heading back to Auckland to join the Warriors, signing a two-year deal with the club where his father Steve cemented his reputation as an inspirational captain.

The 25-year-old forward joins on a midseason transfer from Queensland Cup club Redcliffe, starting on a development contract through the end of 2026 before moving into the top 30 NRL squad next year.

Steve Price began a legendary career at the club in 2005, serving as captain for five seasons.

Riley was three years old when the family moved to Auckland, attending Mount Albert Grammar School and playing junior rugby league with the Mount Albert Lions before returning to Australia at 15.

Riley Price becomes the fourth son of a former Warrior at the club this season, joining Jett Cleary, Haizyn Mellars and Braelan Marsh — sons of Ivan Cleary, Vince Mellars and PJ Marsh respectively.

Warriors general manager of recruitment Andrew McFadden said the signing was a thrill for the club.

"It's exciting for us having Riley back at the club he knows so well from his time living in Auckland when his father was here," he said.

"He has terrific footballing pedigree through his father and will bring a lot to our squad with his professional attitude and work ethic. It's also a thrill seeing the next generation coming through with yet another son of one of our former players joining the club."

Riley Price made his NRL debut with the North Queensland Cowboys in 2023 and has since made three top-grade appearances, including one for the Penrith Panthers in 2025.

He has played 81 games across the Queensland Cup and New South Wales Cup competitions.
