A Papamoa man has been jailed for possessing and sharing images depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.
Michael John Gray-Kippax, whose offending spanned over a decade, pleaded guilty to 18 charges related to the possession and distribution of objectionable material.
He was sentenced to three years and six months in prison at the Tauranga District Court today.
An investigation into the man was launched by the Department of Internal Affairs after an Australian law enforcement agency told New Zealand authorities that he had emailed an Investigator a link containing 216 objectionable files.
He was connected to additional offending, including online material reported by the United States-based National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children that dated back to 2016.
Investigators raided Gray-Kippax's home on September 18, 2025.
He cooperated with authorities and gave them access to his email account.
They found more than a decade of communications linked to the possession and distribution of child sexual exploitation and abuse material.
The judge ordered the destruction of devices Gray-Kippax used to commit the crimes.
He was also required to register as a child sex offender.
