Armed police are responding to an incident in Auckland's Mt Wellington after a person was seriously injured this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene between Te Horeta Rd and Rowlands Ave just after 6.30am on Tuesday.

Motorists were advised of delays on Mount Wellington Highway as police responded to the incident.

"At this stage the road remains open, however motorists are advised to take alternative routes or expect delays," a police spokesperson said.
