Second person dies after crash between car and truck in Hamilton

A second person has died following a crash between a car and truck in Hamilton yesterday.

Inspector Scott Miller said the crash, involving a car with four people inside and a truck, occurred on Wairere Drive near Pukete around 2.30pm Monday.

"One person died at the scene and three others were taken to hospital," Miller said.

Miller confirmed a second person died in Waikato Hospital overnight, while two others remained in a serious condition.

"Police extend their condolences to the families of all of those involved.

"We would also like to thank the members of the public who came to the aid of those who were injured and assisted at the scene."

Investigations were underway to determine the circumstances of the crash.
