A pedestrian has died in a crash in Te Kūiti yesterday.

Police were called to the crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Carroll Street/State Highway 3 at the intersection with Ward Street just before 8pm.

"Sadly, despite best efforts, the pedestrian died at the scene," a police spokesperson said.

The serious crash unit conducted a scene examination.

Police inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing.
