The funeral for broadcaster and psychologist Nigel Latta will take place at a venue on Auckland's waterfront next weekend.
The event would be held at 1pm on October 11 at The Cloud and was announced in a post to Latta's Facebook page.
"This is the funeral notice that will be placed in newspapers, so just in case you are a non-paper person, thought we would share it here," the statement read.
"Latta, Nigel Raymond. Passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospice on 30 September 2025.
"Dearly loved son of Janice and Elvyn. Much loved son-in-law Emily. Adored husband of Natalie. Beloved father of Rina and Jordan, and Kieran. Loved stepfather of Elijah and Isobel, Maya, and Leon. Brother and brother-in-law of Craig and Leigh, Jason and Nalini, Jan and Mike. Uncle of Sarah, Annabelle and Joel. Dog Dad to Max and Wookie. Respected and loved by many. Special thanks to Osama, Sanjeev and Anthony.
"A Celebration of Nigel’s life will be held at 1 pm on Saturday 11 October at The Cloud, 89 Quay St, Auckland. In lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy Hospice would be appreciated."
Latta died on Tuesday at the age of 58 after battling stomach cancer.
In 2024, Latta was diagnosed with an "incurable stomach cancer".
"You were never dying, just living until the moment you weren’t. You fought cancer with enormous bravery. You’ve spent your life helping others in need. And now it’s your turn to rest," the post announcing his death read.
"He will be dearly missed by his wife Natalie, daughter Rina, son Kieran, and three stepchildren, Elijah, Maya and Leon."
Born in Oamaru, Latta rose to prominence in the 2010s, best known for his documentaries on true crime, parenting, and psychology.
Between 2008 and 2012, Latta was a presenter on 14 documentaries and television series. He also wrote seven parenting books.
In 2012, Latta was appointed an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to psychology.
