Six young people aged between 13 and 15 were taken into police custody after a fleeing driver incident in Auckland's Pukekohe this morning.
Counties Manukau CIB Detective Inspector Karen Bright said a group of offenders were seen smashing up a vehicle on Lapwood Rd in Tuakau shortly before 9am.
"It was a stolen vehicle sought in connection to an aggravated robbery on King St, Waiuku yesterday," she said. The robbery was alleged to have occurred at a commercial premises.
This group left the scene in another vehicle, which was also confirmed to be stolen.
Bright said police signalled for the driver to stop on Bollard Rd, but they did not, instead, taking off at speed.
"A pursuit was not initiated, and the Eagle helicopter was deployed to the area, locating the vehicle and tracking it before it stopped on Percheron Rd.
"The driver and one other person were taken into custody at the scene, but the four other occupants fled on foot," said Bright.
Police were able to locate them with the help of Eagle and they were taken into custody without further incident.
Police charged a 13-year-old and 15-year-old with aggravated robbery, with the 15-year-old also charged with unlawful uses motor vehicle, unlawful takes motor vehicle and failing to stop.
The four remaining alleged offenders, aged between 14 and 15, were referred to Youth Aid.
