One person has died after a two-vehicle crash in Auckland's CBD last night.

Emergency services first responded to the crash on Upper Queen St, near Ian McKinnon Drive, at around 7pm.

One person with critical injuries was taken to hospital but have since died.

"The serious crash unit conducted a scene examination and the road has since reopened," police said this morning.

"Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash remain ongoing."
