Two dead following single-vehicle crash in Otago last night

Two people have died following a crash north of Wanaka last night.

Police were alerted to the single-vehicle crash on Makarora-Lake Hawea Road, Makarora, Queenstown-Lakes at around 10.20pm.

The two people died at the scene while two others were transported to Dunstan Hospital with minor and moderate injuries.

The road is down to one lane and motorists should avoid the area if possible.

Police are investigating the circumstances of the crash.
