Two people injured, one seriously, after hit-and-run at Warkworth north of Auckland

Two people have been injured, one seriously, after a hit-and-run incident involving a car and motorcycle on the Northern Peninsula this afternoon.

The incident occurred after the two vehicles collided at the intersection of State Highway 1 and Whitaker Road, in Warkworth, after which the car fled the scene, at 3.50pm, police said.

One person was seriously injured in the crash, while another received moderate injuries.

The car was located a short distance away.

One person is assisting police with enquiries.

The road is closed and motorists have been advised to avoid the area.
