House completely gutted by fire in Wellington's Lyall Bay

A house in Lyall Bay, Wellington, has been severely damaged by a fire this morning.

A spokesperson for Fire and Emergency NZ said the fire broke out at a property on Hungerford Road about 11.30am.

Four fire engines were sent to the scene and all people were accounted for, with no injuries.

A tall plume of smoke and steam was visible across Lyall Bay.
