Three teenagers, some as young as 14, are among four people who appeared in court this morning in relation to an alleged kidnapping in central Auckland last night.

Police say two women were assaulted and then forced into the boot of a stolen car after confronting the offenders on Bowen Avenue at 10pm.

The car, which was driving down the Southern Motorway, exited off Ramarama before crashing down a bank.

The kidnapped pair were discovered in the boot of the car with moderate injuries and were taken to Middlemore Hospital for treatment.

All four alleged offenders have received name suppression.

The group will reappear in court on Monday.
