Watch: Car rams into Auckland petrol station in attempt to break-in

Witnesses watched on in disbelief overnight as alleged robbers slammed a vehicle into a service station on Auckland's North Shore in an attempted break-in.

Video sent to 1 NEWS taken at about 2am this morning shows a car reversing into the side of the Gull Service Station on Albany Highway in Rosedale.

Two people then get out of the car and appear to run towards the shop trying to grab things.

Iaw Arboleda Mendez, who filmed the incident from across the street, told 1 NEWS it looked like they were trying to steal from an ATM machine.

Police told 1 NEWs they are investigating the incident, after being called to the scene at around 2am after it was reported offenders had attempted to break in using a vehicle.
