Black Caps all rounder Doug Bracewell will return to the Black Caps for tomorrow's first ODI against the West Indies, after a year away from the team due to injury and off-field issues.
Kane Williamson confirmed Bracewell's return to the Black Caps to reporters at a press conference this morning.
"That's one name I will mention that will be in the 11 tomorrow," Williamson said, referring to Bracewell.
"He's going really well, preparing well. It's nice to see him back from injury and he's been going really well for the start of this season so he deserves his opportunity."
Bracewell last played for the Black Caps last October in an ODI against India in Dharamasala.
Since then, Bracewll has been in limbo with New Zealand Cricket after he lost his contract to Test opener Jeet Raval.
NZ Cricket said at the time the paceman's knee injury and on-field performance were the main reasons for Bracewell's ommision and not due to the 100 hours of community work he was sentenced to after his third drink-driving offence.
But Williamson said Bracewell had developed in domestic cricket this season into a viable all-round option.
"His batting's been coming along really well for quite some time.
"We've seen it a lot in domestic cricket. I suppose he came on the scene more as that bowler, opening bowler, first change seamer-type player.
"But for quite some time now we've certainly seem talent with the bat and a real opportunity for him to develop into that true allrounder," Williamson said.
Williamson remained tight-lipped on the other selections.
