A New Zealand Police tip off to police in the Philippines has brought a halt to a child abuse ring after they found disturbing content on the computer of a New Zealand man.
Police said today that the content was found in September during an investigation, which included children being abused on demand and streamed to international subscribers.
A search warrant was executed by Philippines police in November and three children, aged four, five, and seven, were rescued and their parents arrested.
Detective Senior Sergeant John Michael of NZ Police said this kind of offending can often be driven by poverty and can be seen in some countries as a legitimate source of income.
A man is currently before the courts in New Zealand over the child abuse ring.
