One person has been critically injured following an incident reportedly involving a firearm in west Auckland's Massey overnight.
Police were called to the scene on Mānutewhau Rd following reports of a male with a firearm.
Police said last night specialist staff were at the scene and were "working to speak with the male to bring the situation to a safe conclusion".
1News footage from the scene in Massey showed police officers, including the armed offenders squad, and St John at the scene shortly before midnight.
A St John spokesperson said it sent one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle and one operation manager to the scene shortly before 8pm.
Shots were heard around midnight.
One person in a critical condition was transported to Auckland City Hospital.
A police cordon remained in place at the scene this morning.
