Four jet skiers — including two suffering from hypothermia — were rescued from the shore off Northland on Friday evening.
In a post to its social media account, Coastguard Mangawhai said it received reports of four jet skiers "in water and in trouble" near the western side of the Hen, an island about 22km offshore from Bream Bay in Northland, at around 6.20pm.
The Kokako Rescue crew arrived at around 7pm to the four men on the rocky western shore.
"An initial assessment of the four young men found that they were very cold, with two suffering from mild hypothermia," a spokesperson wrote.
It said the rescue crew gave the young men warm jackets and blankets and placed them in the forward cabin of the vessel where they could warm up.
They arrived back in Mangawhai at around 8.50pm with two jet skis in tow. The men warmed up sufficiently enough to go back home, the spokesperson added.
Rescue crews helped them put their jet skis back on their trailer before standing down and returning to base.
"Amazing work by our rescue crew, bringing home the four young men to safety," Coastguard Mangawhai said.
