Vehicle fire blocks lane, causes delays on Auckland motorway

Motorists are being warned to expect delays after a vehicle caught fire on State Highway 1 near Auckland's Penrose this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the fire at around 4.25pm on Wednesday.

"One southbound lane is blocked before the South-Eastern Highway off-ramp, and traffic is building," police said.

There were no reports of injuries.

Police thanked motorists for their patience while emergency services worked to clear the scene.
