Winston Peters, Shane Jones refuse to back down over 'go back to your own country' jibe
Winston Peters and Shane Jones have refused to back down from Peters telling Green MP Lawrence Xu-Nan to "go back to your own country" in Parliament yesterday, with Jones going further and saying Xu-Nan "should know his place".
The New Zealand First leader, who is also Foreign Minister, made the original remark responding to heckling during a speech in the House on Wednesday.
Peters later characterised his comments as "defending New Zealand's democracy" and dismissed accusations of racism as "drivel."

A teacher has been struck off after the Teacher's Disciplinary Tribunal found she had sexual relations with a student and engaged in a range of serious misconduct involving other students.
Matekino Matthews was found guilty of serious misconduct following a hearing in March, with the decision released in May.
The tribunal found she had a "sexual relationship" that was "to the fullest degree" with a college student.

Speaking to Breakfast, Xu-Nan said Peters was "scapegoating" migrant communities as a distraction from the Government's record.
