Kiwi Erika Fairweather has claimed her third medal of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning silver in the women's 1500m freestyle on Monday.

Australian Lani Pallister was in a class of her own, leading from the outset to comfortably take out the title, while Aussie Molly Walker rounded out the podium.
Fairweather took her second silver medal of the Games, after finishing behind Pallister in the 400m freestyle final earlier in the meet. The 22 year-old also bagged bronze in the 200m freestyle final on Sunday.
The women's 1500m freestyle was contested as a straight final, featuring the eight fastest qualifiers, marking the first time the event has been raced at a Commonwealth Games.
Fellow Kiwi Caitlin Deans came home fifth, while Eve Thomas finished in eighth.
Fairweather's silver takes New Zealand's medal tally at the Glasgow Games to five — all won in the pool - following Lewis Clareburt's silver in the men's 400m individual medley on the opening day and Hazel Ouwehand's hard-fought bronze in the 50m butterfly.
