Two arrested after 'altercation' in Auckland CBD

Two people were arrested after police were called to a venue following an "altercation" in central Auckland last night.

A police spokesperson said officers were called to Mercury Lane after a "report of disorder" between three people at around 7.10pm.

"Two people were arrested near the scene and both transported to hospital with moderate injuries," police said.

Footage from the scene showed multiple police officers, including detectives, on Mercury Lane. They were also in and around St Kevin's Arcade on Karangahape Rd.

A 33-year-old man was charged with disorderly behaviour and possession of utensils for methamphetamine. A 28-year-old man was also charged with disorderly behaviour.

Both will appear in the Auckland District Court today.

The street where the incident occurred is just off Karangahape Rd, and comes days after police responded to a fight at a busy bar.

Seven people were arrested following the Sunday morning incident. Six were released without charge, while one person was charged with assaulting police.
