Worker hurt in attempted robbery at Auckland greengrocer

"During the altercation, the offenders dropped the till and left empty handed," a police spokesperson said.

A store worker has been injured in an attempted aggravated robbery at a fruit and vegetable shop in South Auckland last night.

Police said three offenders entered the store on Roscommon Rd, Clendon Park at around 7.30pm on Sunday and attempted to steal the cash till.

An altercation occurred between the offenders and the man working in the store, leaving him with moderate injuries.

Hato Hone St John responded with one rapid response, one operations manager and one ambulance. The man was transported to Middlemore Hospital where he received treatment.

"During the altercation, the offenders dropped the till and left empty handed," a police spokesperson said.

Inquiries into the incident were ongoing.
