The FIFA World Cup Round of 16 has been locked in after a dramatic first knockout stage at the expanded 48-team tournament.
For the first time, this year's World Cup featured a standalone Round of 32 before the traditional Round of 16, with the tournament’s increased size adding an extra layer to the knockout phase.
The opening elimination round delivered its fair share of surprises, including Germany's shock defeat to Paraguay, Argentina's narrow victory over Cape Verde and a controversial denied goal which saw Portugal knock out Croatia.
Now, just 16 teams remain in the race to lift football’s biggest prize.
The eight Round of 16 matches will be played over the next four days, before the quarter-finals get underway on July 10.
All games can be viewed on TVNZ+ with an event pass, with select games also free to view on TVNZ 1.
