One person has escaped with minor injuries after portable cabin fell off a truck and onto a car north of Whangārei this morning.

Emergency services were called to State Highway 1 at Hikurangi at 9.22am on Friday.

Fire and Emergency NZ said it responded with three crews from Hikurangi and Whangārei.

St John said an ambulance and a rapid response unit attended but were not required.

NZTA said one lane was blocked before Waro Dr and urged motorists to "allow extra time for delays".

Police have been contacted for comment.
