Police are investigating the sudden death of a woman in Tokoroa overnight.
Police were called just before midnight to an address on Hinau St.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ryan Yardley said emergency services responded but she was "sadly pronounced dead at the scene".
"Inquiries are ongoing to establish what exactly has occurred," he said.
Cordons had been put in place in the immediate area with a scene guard remaining at the property.

Yardley said there would be a police presence in the area but there are no concerns for public safety.
St John referred 1News to police for comment.
