A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a dog attack in Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to Breezes Rd in the suburb of Aranui at around 12pm on Tuesday.
Senior Sergeant Hamish-Keer-Keer said animal management had been notified with police remaining on scene.
St John said a rapid response unit and an ambulance responded to the scene.
"Our ambulance staff treated one patient and transported them to Christchurch Public Hospital in a serious condition."
Christchurch City Council Animal Management told 1News it had seized a six-year-old staffordshire bull terrier cross.
"We will be undertaking an investigation so cannot comment further."
Today's incident took place a couple of streets over from a fatal dog attack last month.
Sonny-Charles Watson, 1, died after being bitten by a dog at a home in Basingstoke St, Aranui on August 14. The dog was later put down.
