Four people have been arrested, one vehicle has been impounded and more than 50 infringement notices issued after dozens of bike riders showed "complete disregard for others" during a group ride across west Auckland over the weekend.
Police said the event on Sunday was advertised on social media and was attended by around 120 riders.
Acting Inspector Damian Albert said the group travelled from Henderson to New Lynn and back again, leaving at 11am and finishing by 2pm.
"We had units monitoring the behaviour of the riders to be able to take appropriate enforcement action against those who chose not to follow road safety rules or engaged in any other anti-social behaviour along the way."
Police were "disappointed" that a portion of the group disobeyed road rules, he said, which resulted in the enforcement action, including the issuing of 53 infringement notices.
"These riders showed a complete disregard for others on the road, and we will continue to hold them to account and impound their bikes,” he said.
"Police attempted to keep disruption for commuters to a minimum and hope that police enforcement action sends a strong message about the seriousness of road safety."
Anyone who sees driving or riding of concern should contact police immediately on 111.
