Auckland Airport says an earlier security breach which caused some delays for travellers this morning at the domestic terminal has now been resolved.

An Auckland Airport spokesperson said Aviation Security was requiring all passengers to be rescreened, and that process was underway.

"Safety and security at the airport is important and we thank travellers for their patience," the spokesperson said.

"There have been some delays to flights, and we ask that anyone travelling domestically this morning to please stay across travel updates from their airline."

Other media reported hundreds of passengers milling around Auckland Airport, as long queues formed to go through security checks.

Some passengers on board flights which had arrived at the terminal told Stuff they were unable to disembark their aircraft due to the breach.
