One dead after car crashes into power pole near Timaru

One person has died following a car crash in South Canterbury this morning.

Police were called to Seadown Road, north of Timaru, at around 9.10am after a member of the public came across a crashed vehicle.

The car had hit a power pole, and the sole occupant was found dead at the scene.

The serious crash unit were notified and would examine the circumstances of the crash.

Seadown Road between Arawhenua Station Road and Opihi River is closed while investigations are carried out.
