A motorcyclist has died following a crash on State Highway 35 near Ōpōtiki on Friday night.
The crash involved a single motorcycle between Te Waiiti Rd and Maraenui Pa Rd, was reported to officers shortly before 8.30pm.
"The motorcyclist was critically injured in the crash and tragically passed away a short time later," a police spokesperson said.
Police said inquiries into the circumstances of the crash were underway.
