Ryan Fox has finished the Masters in a tie for 38th after carding a three-over-par 75 in the final round this morning.

The New Zealander, who briefly led the tournament on the first day with a scorching run of three birdies in the opening three holes, began the day in a tie for 26th. Fox finished seven over par overall in Augusta.

After an ordinary start to his fourth round – he bogeyed the first – Fox got two shots back with an eagle on the par-five second.

A birdie on the par-three fourth sustained his momentum but two bogeys on the ninth and 10th put the brakes on.

Fox recovered by parring the next five holes before he double bogeyed the par-three 16th and bogeyed the 17th.

Hoping to finish well, he found the woodwork off the tee on the 18th and had to lay up, but a fine approach shot to within five feet of the hole meant he signed off on a par.

Yesterday he bogeyed the 18th after sending his tee shot right into the trees and had to make a 10-foot putt to limit the damage.

American Scottie Scheffler, who is currently on nine under as he starts the back nine, is on target to win the tournament, but is being challenged by Californian Max Homa.

Although Fox generally struggled on the back nine over his four rounds, and dropped down the leaderboard on the final day, he could take solace in the fact he finished ahead of defending champion Jon Rahm (T45th) and Tiger Woods (60th).
