A diver has made an unfortunate splash at the opening of one of the aquatics venues for the Paris Olympics.
As French President Emmanuel Macron watched one, diver Alexis Jandard slipped, slammed into the board and tumbled into the pool at Saint-Denis.
Thankfully, Jandard appeared to escape serious injury.
"It's a stroke of bad luck," he told Le Parisien.
"I left my DNA and there must still be a bit of my back on the board. But it's OK, it’s just scratches. I didn't hurt myself and that's the most important thing. Tomorrow I'm going back to training."
