The world's oldest man has died just two months before his 115th birthday.
Juan Vicente Pérez passed away yesterday at the age of 114, Guinness World Records confirmed.
His death was confirmed by Freddy Bernal, the governor of Táchira where Pérez lived in Venezuela.
Bernal posted to X in Spanish saying: "Our dear Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, today with deep sadness and pain we say goodbye to you, to that archetype of a man from Tachira, humble, hard-working, peaceful, enthusiastic about family and tradition."
Guinness World Records said Pérez was married to Ediofina del Rosario García for 60 years until she died in 1997.
They had 11 children, five daughters and six sons. Pérez also had 42 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The next oldest man alive is thought to be 112-year-old Gisaburo Sonobe from Japan.
