Smoke billows from house fire in Auckland's Silverdale

Fire and Emergency responded today to a house fire in Auckland's Silverdale.

A spokesperson said they were initially called to reports of a garage fire, and on arrival found a two storey house well involved.

They then requested backup to the property. Five fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze.

A fire investigator has been called in to determine the cause.

A person at the scene said large crowds were gathering to watch the fire, with some fire crew backing people away from watching outside the property.
