One dead after fatal Ashburton crash

One person has died after a single vehicle crash on Methven Highway, Allenton, Ashburton overnight.

The sole occupant tragically passed away at the scene, police said.

Emergency services were notified at 12.45am.

"The road is now open following a scene examination.

"An investigation into the crash remains ongoing."
