A woman has died and two others were left injured after being struck by a falling Christmas tree in Belgium.
Security camera footage captured the brightly-lit tree, which stood at 20 metres tall, slowly leaning over before collapsing during adverse weather caused by Storm Pia in the Belgian city of Oudenaarde, according to Reuters.
A spokesman for the Oost-Vlaanderen province prosecutor said the woman who died was 63 and was a local to the city, as were the two other injured individuals. Officials have suggested their injuries are not serious.
"The investigation will focus on whether the tree had been properly secured and will also look at the impact of the weather," the province prosecutor spokesperson said.
Storm Pia, which has been disrupting traffic in the Netherlands and the UK, caused another death, after another woman was hit by a different falling tree in Belgium.
The woman died of her injuries a day later, her employer healthcare organisation said.
