Three people arrested for murder after fatal Foxton house fire

Three people have been arrested for murder, and two for arson, after 32-year-old Dean Kahukiwa died in a Foxton house fire in September.

Inspector Brent Matuku said a 28-year-old woman from Lower Hutt, a 37-year-old woman from Shannon, and a 47-year-old man from Shannon have been arrested over Kahukiwa's death.

Matuku said an additional two people, a 30-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman, have been charged with arson. Both are from Palmerston North.

All five are due in the Levin District Court tomorrow.

Kahukiwa's body was found on September 29. He was a resident in Foxton at the time of his death.

Investigations are ongoing and Matuku said police cannot rule out further arrests or charges.
