Police have launched a homicide investigation today following the death of a Nelson man last night.
Detective Inspector Lex Bruning said Tasman police went to a property on Orchard Street in Stoke around 7pm last night where a man was found with critical injuries. He was rushed to hospital and died not long after.
Police say they want to speak to the owner of a white BMW X5 station wagon with the registration BMW693.
"We believe this vehicle is of interest to the investigation and are seeking to locate it," a spokesperson said.
Police believe the individuals involved are known to each other.
A scene guard will remain in place today, and locals in the area can expect to see a heavy police presence.
