Light earthquake felt by many near Gisborne

February 13, 2023

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.4 struck near Gisborne this evening.

The quake, which struck at a depth of 22 kilometres, was listed as light by GeoNet.

It struck at 7.45pm, 25 kilometres west of Gisborne.

The earthquake was felt by at least 1100 people, who reported shaking to GeoNet.
