Whakarewarewa Rugby Club juniors perform a haka for late rugby star Sean Wainui in Rotorua’s town centre.

Wainui played for the club alongside fellow Chiefs star Te Toiroa Tahuriorangi.

The Tahuriorangi family told Te Karere, Wainui was more than a friend.

“For the Tahuirorangi whānau, we feel like we’ve lost a son also,” June Tahuriorangi said.

“And so our love goes out to Paige and the kids and the Wainui whānau.”

More haka, waiata, and karakia is expected to be performed to farewell Wainui as the day of the burial approaches.
