One person dead, road closed after three-car crash at busy east Auckland intersection

Cordons were in place after one person was killed in a crash involving three cars at a busy intersection in east Auckland this evening.

Fire and Emergency NZ says it was called to the intersection of Ti Rakau Drive and Botany Road, in Botany, at 5.06pm.

Cordons were in place on Tarnica Road, Te Kora Road, Chapel Road and Town Centre Drive, Auckland Transport said in a tweet.

The road would be closed for some time while the Serious Crash Unit investigated.

Auckland Transport advised people to follow the detour route or avoid the area.
